ARLINGTON (KDAF) — There’s a Christmas tree on the field of AT&T Stadium, and the stars from my favorite childhood movies and TV show have stepped out of the screen and onto the green.
“Love at the Kettle”, a working title, is a new movie coming to Great American Family as part of their Great American Christmas 2024 lineup.
The production wrapped filming in August, with it’s final day spent inside the AT&T Stadium.
Carlos and Alexa PenaVega star and produced the heartwarming story. Mario Lopez co-produced the film which features a collaboration with The Salvation Army.
“This is our first Great American Family Christmas movie, our company is producing it so it’s like a baby for me and Alexa. It’s our vision,” Carlos said. “We got music, Christmas and love, what more could you want?”
Carlos PenaVega penned Get Him Back (For Christmas), an original song, exclusively for this movie.
The film follows the story of two people who find love and purpose while volunteering at The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle. The time-honored tradition plays a central role in the movie. The film aims to raise awareness and support for The Salvation Army. The PenaVegas are longtime supporters of the organization and have various initiatives with The Salvation Army including serving as bell ringers.
“I’ve always loved music, but it isn’t my first passion, so I’ve always been afraid of it because I don’t pursue it a lot.” Fast-forward to writing Love at the Kettle, she said Carlos asked whether she was sure about singing. “I said ‘God keeps calling me to step out and not be afraid so yeah, I am going to sing!”
Her quick words to describe the flick? “Fun, elevated and old-school.”
“It’s a beautiful story about giving, family and Christmas,” explained executive producer, Mark Roberts.
Great American Media CEO and President Bill Abbott hopes the audience will reflect on the importance of giving back during the holiday season, just as The Salvation Army has been doing for more than 100 years.
“We are incredibly excited about this film and the partnerships that have made it possible,” said Great American Media President & CEO, Bill Abbott. “The collaboration with The Salvation Army not only enhances the story but also underscores the importance of giving to and supporting our neighbors.”
Great American Family is part of the Great American Media portfolio of brands.
